PLAYING SITE: ROGERS HIGH SCHOOL
Rogers High School : 1622 E Wellesley Ave, Spokane, WA 99207
We will be using the new and Auxillary Gym. Parking can be on the Street on Heroy or Pittsburg or in the parking lot across the street. You will come into the commons area where your team areas will be set out.
TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE
The doors will be open at 7:00 AM. The coach’s meeting will be held promptly at 7:30 AM. Final tournament rosters will need to be checked and signed by the coach, pool play information will be distributed, the Site Manager and Day Official will be introduced, ground rules will be reviewed, and any other issues addressed. Please be on time.
Don’t depend on the region to send us a copy of your roster. Please bring one of your own accurate and updated rosters with complete USAV numbers just in case. If you don’t have a roster, your team cannot play. Hand printed rosters are not acceptable according to Evergreen Region guidelines.
TEAM AREAS
Teams will be assigned areas. As many of you know it is a mad dash in the morning to get the best spot and then there is always a team that has to jam into a little corner. To avoid this, you will be assigned a team area. You will be required to have either your Chaperone or Coach check in with the Tournament Director. Please do not spread out anyfurther than your assigned area. You will also need to check out with the Tournament Director before leaving. Tournament Director will ensure that your area is clean and there is no trash left behind. Please help us keep the school clean, they do a great job of working with our club and we would like to be able to maintain excellent relationships.
TOURNAMENT PLAY
Pool play warm ups will begin after the coach’s meeting and pool play will begin promptly at 8:00 AM. Each subsequent match on a court will begin immediatly after the previous match has finished. Your help in keeping the matches running will help keep the tournament on schedule. The Evergreen Region has determined that in age groups U15 and up, players may officiate as the R1 if qualified. However, in these instances, the Head Coach is required to be the R2. The Evergreen Region has told the tournament directors that they have the choice about whether to allow players to be the R1. For this tournament, we will follow this determination during POOL PLAY ONLY. During the Championship and Consolation playoff brackets, the HEAD Coach must be the R1. If your player does not have experience as an R1 ref, please do not take this time to teach them as each team playing deserves to have someone making calls on a consistant basis.
Pool play matches will consist of 2 out of 3 games. The first 2 games are to 25 points. The 3rd game, if needed will be to 15 points. In pools with 3 teams, pool play will consist of 3 games to 25 points.
We will be using the following play/ref Option:
3 team pools 4 team pools
Option 1 Option 3
Play Ref Play Ref
1-3 2 2-3 1
2-3 1 1-4 2
1-2 3 2-4 3
1-3 2
3-4 1
1-2 4
The warm-up procedure will be 5-5 (1st two rounds) and 3-3 (remainder of the tournament). Match results will be posted near the tournament desk as matches are completed. Each court will have a scoresheet runner who will pick up your scoresheets, libero sheets and lineup sheets and bring new ones for the next match. Since your reffing team is not in charge of getting the scoresheets to the Tournament Desk, you should be ready to play right away if so scheduled.
The Championship and Consolation playoff brackets will be set and play will begin immediately upon completion of pool play. The playoff brackets are both single elimination. You will be required to referee the next match on your court if you lose during the playoffs. Please don’t ask to leave early as this puts an undue burden on the remaining teams to cover your responsibilities. If you made the Championship match you wouldn’t want to leave early would you??? So, please ref your match and do your best job.
AWARDS
Awards will be presented to the 1st and 2nd place teams in the Championship Playoff Bracket.
VANDALISM
Coaches, players, parents, and fans can be of tremendous assistance to our site personnel in preventing and identifying acts of vandalism. Please be aware of what is going on around you. If your team finds tables, flip charts, or other items marked up or defaced at a scorers table or elsewhere, please notify your coach and the site director to get the situation identified and corrected. Please don’t add to the problem. In the event vandalism is found and the potential culprit identified, the team’s coach and club director will be informed so that they can deal with the situation. If they cannot deal with the situation, then the Region will be notified to deal with it on a higher level.
FOOD
No food will be allowed in any gym, this includes GUM! The only exception to this rulewould be for medical reasons and, in that situation, must be kept to a minimum. Please notify the tournament director in advance if someone on your team has a medical condition requiring this approval. You must notify the Site Manager as you check in if this applies to you. The only liquid allowed in the gyms will be water. NO EXCEPTIONS. Food concessions will be available through a couple of school groups and volleyball team raising funds for their activities.
You will not be able to “Plug In” any items at our tournament, sorry…
If you, your team, your parents or spectators violate this rule, your team will be assessed an 10 point penalty at the beginning of the next game for the 1st violation. A 2nd violation will result in a 15 point penalty at the beginning of your next game. A 3rd violation will result in the forfeiture of your next game and may result in your team being dismissed from the tournament.
CLOTHING CONCESSIONS
Tounament shirts will be available for sale during the day at or near the Tournament Site Director’s table. These shirts have been specially designed for this tournament and we are sure you will like them!
SPECIAL EVENTS
We will have a licensed Massage Therapist on site…this is open to all players, coaches, parents, and spectators. Please note a portion of the proceeds will be donated back to Club Eclipse Volleyball and help us to continue to have Scholarship Programs for our players.
We will also have a DJ on site playing family friendly music all day. If you have a request, please ask the DJ, if he has it I am sure he would love to play it for you! Because we will have a DJ, we ask that you not bring in Boomboxes in your areas.
